How accessible the service is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA.

In October 2026 we checked the service against the 48 WCAG 2.1 success criteria in the checklist HMRC ask software developers to complete. The result:

Two WCAG 2.1 criteria are not in that checklist and have not been assessed yet: 2.5.1 (pointer gestures) and 4.1.3 (status messages).

The check was a self-assessment carried out by Cadogan Advisory Ltd. It has not been audited by a third party, and it has not been tested with disabled users.
